It is clear that Real Madrid feel hard done by referees in their recent games, especially with all negative results having a direct connection with decisions going against them during the game.
It all started in the team’s clash against Espanyol when the player who should have been sent off for a dangerous tackle on Kylian Mbappe scored the winner.
Most recently, Jude Bellingham was sent off for a verbal reaction to the referee’s decision.
With the tension between the club and the referees at an all-time high, a delegation from Real Madrid set up a meeting with the Referees’ Technical Committee (CTA) at the RFEF headquarters to review the audio footage from the Mbappe incident against Espanyol.
As relayed by a close Real Madrid source to MARCA, the meeting between Real Madrid and RFEF was eventful.
“The meeting was conducted in a very serious and polite atmosphere,” the source told the Spanish outlet.

As expected, the audio tracks from the Mbappe incident during the night were reviewed and the decision of the referee to not send off the Espanyol star was discussed. However, the club’s opinion on the referees being biased against Real Madrid did not change.
The Referees’ committee categorically denied any such bias against a particular club, but Real Madrid continue to insist that they are being targeted even after the meeting with the RFEF.
Needless to say, there was also talk about the need for more transparency in refereeing decisions so as to ensure more uniformity over the application of rules, not only in refereeing but in the qualification criteria, the promotion and relegation system and several other avenues.
“The Technical Committee of Referees says it is open to implementing changes in this regard,” the source added, relaying a positive development.
It remains to be seen if the meeting has any effect on the refereeing of Real Madrid games in the coming weeks. After all, the club cannot afford to lose any more points after throwing away their entire lead in La Liga.
