Manchester United’s imminent signing Patrick Dorgu has been highly praised by Denmark U21 coach Steffen Höjer.
United agreed a deal with Lecce for the 20-year-old wing-back earlier in the week.
The Danish international is set to fly to Manchester over the weekend to have his medical and complete a move to Old Trafford.
Lecce striker Nikola Krstovic has already been full of praise for the United bound left back by claiming he has similarities to AC Milan fullback Theo Hernandez.
Dorgu’s former national team under-21 coach has also lauded the talent of United’s newest recruit.
Speaking to Danish outlet Tipsbladet he claimed, “he is a powerhouse on a football field. He has an absolutely fantastic physique, is really well built and technically skilled, but perhaps most importantly, he is very humble off the field.”
“He is a quiet and calm guy who is fantastic to work with.”
Höjer also stated that he has been highly impressed by the route in which Dorgu has taken to get the top and claimed that he was very proud of his progress.
“What is so interesting is that he has not taken the direct path, but he has handled it beautifully, that he was not part of the plans in Nordsjælland and then went to Lecce’s youth department and broke through in Serie A, to the point that United want to buy him now.”
“It requires an insane amount of work, and I am deeply impressed by the way he has handled it all.”
The coach did warn that he was a bit of a “wild” player in the past but that his move to Italy has helped him work on the tactical side of his game.
Höjer also lavished praise on Dorgu’s mentality as he handled the move to a foreign country where he did not speak the language very well and that this will stand him in good stead for his arrival in Manchester.
