Manchester United youngster Ethan Wheatley has reportedly found the club that will host him on loan next season.

The 19-year-old is a youth product of the club who made his Premier League debut in April 2024 under the tutelage of Erik ten Hag. At the time, he replaced Rasmus Hojlund in the 4-2 win over Sheffield United.

The striker earned a permanent promotion to the first team last summer, but Ruben Amorim dropped him from the squad upon his arrival in November. The teenager instead featured for Man Utd U21, bagging six goals in nine appearances in the Premier League 2.

Wheatley then joined Walsall on loan in January. However, he only made four appearances in League Two, failing to find the back of the net, before vanishing from the scene.

Wheatley returned to Carrington this summer, but was never expected to linger for too long, especially following his forgettable experience at Walsall. Therefore, the management’s plan was to find him new accommodation in the lower leagues, where he can develop his game and earn valuable experience.

According to Sky Sport Italia journalist Luca Bendoni, United have been able to find the young centre-forward a new club, so he’s now set to join Northampton Town on loan for the 2025/26 season.

The source reveals that all parties have agreed on the transfer, and he expects the deal to be announced in the coming hours.

Therefore, Wheatley will have the opportunity to prove his worth in League One, which is England’s third-tier division. He will play under the guidance of Bolton legend Kevin Nolan, who has been serving as the club’s head coach since December 2024.
