Matchday Live guest Michael Brown says Kevin De Bruyne’s performance at Brentford shows the Belgian is getting back to his best.
Having missed a significant portion of the first half of the campaign through injury, De Bruyne has been working his way to full fitness over the last couple of months.
He put in a Man of the Match display in west London on Tuesday as we went 2-0 up before Thomas Frank’s side battled back to claim a point.
De Bruyne was our star man throughout, finding pockets of space all across the midfield and incredibly creating eight chances for his team-mates.
That included an exquisite cross for Phil Foden’s opener, which the England international guided in off the far post.
Speaking on Matchday Live just moments after the final whistle last night, former City midfielder Brown was excited by what he saw from our No.17.
“He waits in the buildup and then just drifts out into the areas he can be dangerous," said Brown.
“Only some people can see Phil Foden in that position for the first but De Bruyne anticipates where Foden is going to go. He fizzes it right across and Phil provides a great touch.
“De Bruyne did it four times in the first half too. We created key moments from what he contributed and when he gets on the ball something happens.
“What was most impressive is that he looks like he’s getting fitter. Not just on the ball when he does things, there was one run in particular when he drove all the way through.
“He’s getting back to his best.”
