David Terrier has been re-elected president of FIFPRO Europe, the continental arm of the global players’ union, following a unanimous vote at the organisation’s general assembly in Stockholm on Wednesday.
The Frenchman also serves as president of the UNFP – France’s national union for professional footballers. He will now begin a new four-year mandate leading FIFPRO’s European division, according to L’Équipe.
Terrier enjoyed a career as a centre-back and defensive midfielder, turning out for clubs including FC Metz, OGC Nice, and AC Ajaccio during the 1990s and early 2000s.
Under his leadership, FIFPRO Europe has been focused on representing players’ interests in a football landscape marked by increasing financial disparities, congested fixture lists, and the changing dynamics of international governance.
Terrier’s renewed mandate – which will last another four years – comes at a time when FIFPRO Europe is seeking to consolidate its influence in negotiations with UEFA, FIFA, and domestic leagues, particularly on matters such as player workload and mental health protections.GFFN | George Boxall
