Aston Villa have established their interest in sanctioning a deadline-day acquisition of Jadon Sancho.
Their pursuit comes amid Manchester United’s revived move for Emiliano Martinez, with whom they agreed personal terms last night. However, numerous outlets have stressed that the two deals are considered separate as things stand.
Alas, David Ornstein revealed this morning that Villa were ‘on [the] verge’ of finalising an agreement to sign Sancho on loan for the campaign. United still hold the option of extending his deal, currently running until June 2026, by an additional 12 months, which they’ll presumably do to ensure they earn a fee from his departure.

From United’s perspective, they’re just desperate to get Sancho off their books by any means necessary.
After Chelsea forked out a £5 million penalty to bypass their £25m buy obligation in June, it was claimed the Reds had reduced their asking price for Sancho, conceding his lacklustre form was unlikely to attract many suitors.
That has proven to be the case throughout the summer; the 25-year-old has only really been linked with moves to Serie A or the Turkish top flight, the latter of which he was uninterested in.
Villa were able to get the best out of Marcus Rashford when he spent the second half of last season at Villa Park, so there’ll be hopes they can do the same with the exiled forward.
Since joining United in a £73m switch from Borussia Dortmund in 2021, Sancho has recorded a measly 12 goals and six assists in 83 appearances.
He also scored five goals and contributed 10 assists in the 41 games he played for Chelsea across 2024/2025. His complete record in the Premier League up to this point is 12 goals and 11 assists in 89 outings.
Of course, Sancho’s most notable and prolific form came in the yellow and black of Dortmund, primarily in his first spell.
