It’s been a tough few days for Darwin Nunez, who faced severe and unwarranted online abuse following his cameo from the substitutes’ bench in Liverpool’s weekend Premier League win against Tottenham.
Nunez, 24, missed one very good chance during the game, won 4-2 by the Reds, and afterwards deleted all Liverpool-related posts from his Instagram account.
The Uruguayan striker is without a goal in his last six Premier League matches, leading to speculation that he is unhappy and would be seeking a summer transfer.
Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have both been linked with the ex-Benfica man, although with Liverpool having paid an initial £64 million - and with a contract until 2028 - Darwin won’t come cheap.

However, Nunez’s former agent has now backed the forward to shine, calling him one of the best strikers in the world.
Edgardo Lasalvia worked for Nunez until 2022, when Jorge Mendes’ Gestifute took over his affairs ahead of his big move to Anfield.
He believes Nunez has the capacity to become the VERY best frontman in the game, and called on Liverpool fans to be more supportive of their crisis-hit forward.
"Darwin is one of the best current strikers in the world, I don't work with him anymore but I love him very much," Lasalvia told Winwin.com.
"We have overcome many challenges and difficulties together, including two knee operations. Thanks to our support and great love, and with his will and that of his family, he was able to overcome it.
"I would like him to believe in himself again and remember everything he went through to get to his current place, and to rely on the people who really love him with or without success, with or without money, because he will succeed again in life and become the best striker in the world.

"Why did he miss easy chances? Footballers are human beings and these are just periods in their careers, they must be supported. Nunez can be a goalscorer wherever he plays, I hope it happens the best for the Liverpool team and its fans and the best for Darwin and his family."
Liverpool have tumbled out of contention for the Europa League and the Premier League since the start of April, with Nunez and strike partners Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz bearing the brunt of criticism over missed chances.
