A brace from Patson Daka secured a 2-1 victory for Leicester City over FC Karpaty Lviv in the first of two friendlies on Friday, as the Foxes continued their preparations for the new season in Austria.

The match, played in Friedburg on an overcast morning, featured a blend of youth and experience in the Leicester line-up. Academy prospects Will Alves and Luke Evans started alongside established first-team players such as Wilfred Ndidi and Hamza Choudhury.

After a quiet first half in which Leicester had more possession but few clear chances, it was Karpaty who opened the scoring shortly after the break. Yaroslav Karabin curled a superb free-kick into the top corner to give the Ukrainian side the lead.

Leicester responded quickly. Just minutes later, Evans was brought down in the box following a through-ball from Alves, and Daka converted the resulting penalty with power and precision to level the scores.

Chances followed at both ends, with Wout Faes making a crucial block to deny Karabin a second, while Choudhury forced a save from Karpaty goalkeeper Nazar Domchak.

The winning goal arrived in the 73rd minute. Bilal El Khannouss picked out Daka with a perfectly weighted pass, and the Zambian forward made no mistake, finishing first-time into the bottom corner.

The result continues Leicester’s unbeaten start to pre-season, with the second fixture of the day scheduled later against 1. FC Köln.
