Midfielder Petar Sucic is winning praise for bringing a “change of pace” in the centre of the pitch for Inter Milan.
Today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, note how the Croat’s ability to use his acceleration and quick feet to create space can add a new dimension to Inter’s midfield.
Petar Sucic really announced himself as an Inter Milan player against River Plate.
The Croat had already made a couple appearances off the bench for Inter at the Club World Cup. There were cameos against the likes of Monterrey and Urawa Red Diamonds.
But after those two relatively unimpressive displays, Sucic was decisive against River. He even provided the assist for Inter’s all-important opening goal.
In the view of the Corriere dello Sport, there is one quality in particular that marks Petar Sucic out.
The former Dinamo Zagreb midfielder has no shortage of athleticism. And he can use this explosiveness to escape from his marker.
Moreover, Sucic also has the technical ability to manipulate the ball through pressure.
Accordingly, even in a congested midfield battle, Sucic can not only retain possession, but do something proactive with it.
That was on show with the Croat’s assist against River Plate. And it could be a key factor for Inter in midfield next season and beyond.
