Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi shared a football pitch for perhaps the last time on Thursday.
The two legends started in the friendly between Riyadh XI and Paris Saint-Germain in Saudi Arabia.
Both players made their mark as PSG emerged victorious in a nine-goal thriller.
Messi opened the scoring for the French giants after just three minutes.
Ronaldo was making his first outing since moving to Saudi Arabia in December and he restored parity 31 minutes later.
The 37-year-old won a penalty and then converted with aplomb to send the crowd into raptures.
Ronaldo then netted his second just before half-time and levelled the scores once again at 2-2.
Ronaldo and Messi were both substituted just after the hour-mark.
PSG’s quality showed in the second half and they went on to edge out their opponents 5-4.
Ronaldo and Messi were seen embracing both before and during the game in touching scenes.
Following the match, they showed respect for each other in their Instagram posts after the match.
Taking to Instagram after the match, Ronaldo wrote: “So happy to be back on the pitch, and on the score sheet!! And nice to see some old friends!”
He accompanied a number of pictures taken from the game, with one being his embrace with Messi.
Messi, meanwhile, re-posted a clip of their pre-match embrace on his Instagram story.
It’s been a pleasure watching these two do battle over the past two decades.
Hopefully we get to see them share the pitch again at least one more time.
Ronaldo will be hoping to make his debut for Al-Nassr when they take on Ettifaq FC on Sunday.
Messi could feature for PSG in their French Cup clash against Pays de Cassel on Monday.
