Mark Lawrenson has been discussing Newcastle United.
The former Liverpool defender speaking ahead of the imminent trip to Chelsea.
Newcastle United having played ten matches in total (all competitions) so far this season.
Five wins, three draws and two defeats.
A win at Stamford Bridge on Sunday would see Newcastle United go above Chelsea in the Premier League.
Which brings us to Mark Lawrenson…
Mark Lawrenson talking about Newcastle United ahead of Sunday’s match at Chelsea:
“Newcastle are struggling a little bit.
“They started well but the goals have dried up lately.
“With Alexander Isak getting fitter that could be the difference.
“I think he’s brilliant.
“Prediction: Chelsea 1 Newcastle 2”
As others have said, I also think the negativity aimed at Eddie Howe and Newcastle United has been way over the top.
Failing to take some very good/easy chances against Everton and Brighton has cost United five points. Those five points would have seen Newcastle joint third in the table.
Credit to Mark Lawrenson for going against the flow this weekend, with all the other ‘experts’ predicting an easy Chelsea victory.
If Newcastle can defend as they have been generally this season and keep creating chances BUT start taking them, then not impossible that Eddie Howe’s side can win at Stamford Bridge.
