Coventry City youngster Kai Andrews could still leave the club on loan before the transfer window shuts on Monday.
The 19-year-old is attracting interest from several clubs in the Championship and League One, as well as League Two.
Andrews has started for the Sky Blues in both of their EFL Cup games this season, against Luton and then Millwall, but is yet to play in the Championship so far this campaign.
He was omitted from the squad to take on Oxford United on Saturday, and interested clubs are increasingly hopeful he could be allowed to depart on loan before Monday’s deadline.
Andrews has been called up to the latest Wales senior squad to face Kazakhstan and Canada in September, despite his lack of playing time for Coventry this season.
Speaking during Coventry’s pre-season, boss Frank Lampard heaped praise on the youngster, saying: “He’s integrated already. That’s where we’re at. We’ll see, and there are a lot of weeks to go, but the way he has trained, the way he has come back. Some young players stick out because they have not just talent, but attitude.
“He has a great attitude. Kai has that. You can work with him, because he wants to get better. Some players you have to explain that to them that every day matters, but with Kai you don’t.
“He’s going to be a big player for Coventry, in my opinion. I’ve enjoyed working with him. We’ll see [about the future], but at the moment he’s in our squad.”
Meanwhile, Coventry are still hoping to sign central defender Charlie Hughes from Hull City before the deadline shuts.
Forward Norman Bassette could depart, however, with clubs in Europe interested in signing the 20-year-old.
Defender Milan van Ewijk and attacker Jack Rudoni have also attracted interest this summer, and it remains to be seen whether Coventry can keep hold of them until after the transfer window deadline, or if they will be tempted to sell should offers arrive.
