Bayern Munich have an eight-point lead over Bayer Leverkusen with the season-ending victory tape now in sight. Yet, with four matches left to play, Leverkusen can still push the record champions all the way - nothing is decided as yet, but how soon could it happen?

Bayern have lost just twice all season, whilst taking vital points off Leverkusen in their two draws. It's going to take a real collapse for them to let Bayer - who are eight points adrift with four matches left to play - back in between now and the end of the season. Nevertheless, Vincent Kompany's side still have to face European hopefuls in Mainz, Leipzig and Gladbach - teams who have all caused them issues in recent years.
Victory at home to the 05ers on Matchday 31 - potentially Thomas Müller's 500th Bundesliga appearance - combined with a Leverkusen slip at home to Augsburg at the same time would see the Bavarians reclaim the Meisterschale with three games left. A Bayern drawn and a Bayer loss would all but secure the title, given the leaders' vastly superior goal difference. Two more wins for Bayern will be enough, regardless of what Leverkusen manage.

Despite Florian Wirtz's returning from a five-week injury break, Leverkusen have been unable to pile the pressure on Bayern as they were held at home by Union before drawing away to St. Pauli. With their title defence hanging by a threaad, all Xabi Alonso and Co. can do is win their remaining games against teams who also still have plenty to play for - and hope for favours elsewhere - if they are to have a chance of retaining the Meisterschale.
It would take an incredible and unprecedented turn of events for Leverkusen to claim the title at this stage, but last term's domestic double-winners have already shown they know how to rewrite the history books...
