Santiago Gimenez is AC Milan’s top target in this transfer window and while there is an agreement with the player, negotiations with Feyenoord are tricky. According to a report, there could potentially be a breakthrough next week.
Milan have been keeping an eye on Gimenez for quite some time, even making an offer in the summer, and an agreement has also been reached with the striker for a move this month. The negotiations with Feyenoord are not simple, though, as a €40m price tag has been established.
According to today’s edition of Corriere della Sera, as cited by MilanNews, developments are unlikely before Feyenoord’s Champions League clash against Lille next week. They still have a small chance of finishing in the top eight and if not that, they at least want to be one of the seeded teams for the play-off tie.
In short, the Dutch side have a lot to play for still and Gimenez will be a crucial player in their pursuit. Only after that game could Feyenoord perhaps reduce the price tag a little, but the feeling is still that Milan will need to offer around €35m.
For now, Sergio Conceicao will have to make do with Tammy Abraham and Alvaro Morata up front.
