Manchester City take on Real Madrid in the first-leg of the two sides’ last-16 play-off clash in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.
Pep Guardiola and his players avoided FA Cup embarrassment on Saturday afternoon as they came from behind to defeat Leyton Orient in round four of the competition thanks to goals from Abdukodir Khusanov and Kevin De Bruyne.
That victory against the League One outfit at Brisbane Road has set up a fifth round tie at home to Plymouth Argyle, who progressed deeper into the competition with a remarkable 1-0 win over Liverpool on Sunday.
As for Real Madrid, they do not come into the midweek clash off the back of a win as Atletico Madrid held the La Liga leaders to a 1-1 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu with Julian Alvarez scoring from the spot in the first-half.
There have been concerns over the fitness of Nico Gonzalez coming into this week’s tie although having been substituted inside 25 minutes with a problem against Orient over the weekend, the Spaniard appeared to train as normal in the lead-up to the European outing.
Oscar Bobb and Rodri remain unavailable as they continue to recover from longer-term injuries while Omar Marmoush and Abdukodir Khusanov have now been registered for the knock-out stages by Manchester City making them available for selection.
Ahead of kick-off at the Etihad Stadium, here is how both Pep Guardiola and Carlo Ancelotti have lined up their respective Manchester City and Real Madrid sides in UEFA Champions League action!
