La Liga giants Barcelona have been dealt a considerable blow on the personnel front.
This comes amid confirmation that star winger Lamine Yamal will not be available for the club’s final fixture of the calendar year.
Youngster Lamine, for his part, was in from the off on Sunday, as Barcelona welcomed Leganés to Catalunya’s capital for a La Liga clash.
En route to a shock 1-0 defeat for the Blaugrana, however, the 17-year-old picked up an injury.
Late in the first-half, Lamine went to ground in evident distress, after being on the receiving end of a blow to his right ankle.
The Spanish international in the end managed to return to the fray, before ultimately being hooked from proceedings for Gavi 15 minutes from time.
As alluded to above, though, the damage had long been done…
As confirmed in a statement across Barca’s website and social media platforms on Monday, a round of medical tests have confirmed that Lamine has suffered a ‘grade 1 injury to a ligament in the ankle’, ruling the attacker out for a period of three to four weeks:
‘The first team player Lamine Yamal received a blow to the right ankle during the game against CD Leganés on Sunday. Tests carried out on Monday have revealed that the player has a grade 1 injury to a ligament in the ankle. The player is expected to be out for 3 to 4 weeks.’
