Cole Palmer has scored all of his penalties for Chelsea and in a recent question and answer session he shared some insight into his technique from the spot.

Palmer made it ten successful penalties in a row for the Blues as he scored from the spot in last weekend’s win against Brighton, in which he created Premier League history by becoming the first player to score four goals in the first half of a game.

The four goals took his tally for the season to six goals in six games and only Erling Haaland has scored more at this early stage of proceedings.

Palmer gives insight on his penalty technique

There’s so many aspects of the game in which Palmer excels, with one of them penalties and it seems he just doesn’t feel pressure at all.

The 22-year-old took a number of high profile spot kicks last season including last minute equalisers against Manchester City and Manchester United, whilst he also scored in England’s shootout win against Switzerland at Euro 2024.

There’s certainly an art to penalty taking and Palmer appears to have it sussed and in a recent Q&A with Shoot he offered some insight into his technique from the spot.

“I honestly don’t even have one! I just put the ball down on the spot, step back and shoot! A couple of times I changed my mind as I ran up,” he said.

“I did miss one in the FA Youth Cup final with City against Liverpool. I was gutted because we should have won.”

Palmer plays without fear and complete freedom and just appears to take everything in his stride, and in a short space of time he’s established himself as one of the best players in the Premier League.

The England international will have the night off against Gent in the Europa Conference League on Thursday, but will be back in action against Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
