Inter Miami completed their task: beating Orlando City in the Leagues Cup semifinal. With a historic comeback led by Lionel Messi, the Herons will face Seattle Sounders in the final.
Despite the outstanding victory, the game had some controversial actions missed by the referee. For example, in Orlando City’s goal, Pasalic adjusted the ball with his hand.
A similar situation happened to the Lions when Ivan Angulo faced Sergio Busquets in a 1v1, and the Spanish midfielder ended the play with a foul inside the box, which the referee didn’t call.
These missed calls rise comments from Oscar Pareja and Javier Morales, both coaches.
Without leaving anything behind, Pareja’s first reaction to the reporters was: “I don’t want to come here to cry, that’s the last thing I want, because the group of players we have doesn’t deserve this. I’m not here to cry.”
The Lions’ manager recognized the performance of his team during the first half. In the first half were Inter Miami had possession, but Orlando created more danger toward the goal.
Ivan Angulo made things impossible for Falcon and Lujan when they tried to mark him. And the coach acknowledged the effort, discussing that in the second half, the wrong decision made by the referee influenced the encounter: “In the first half, we did very well, we controlled the actions, but in the second half those decisions affected us, I think it’s obvious.”
Adding the wrong decision with Brekalo’s yellow card, which conditioned him most of the game: “Certain decisions and actions off the field affected the team. The yellow card to Brekalo wasn’t a yellow, and many of those decisions affected the match overall.”
On the other hand, Javier Morales discussed the saying by Orlando City’s coach and told the reporters: “This is football: when one team wins and the other loses, that’s the sport.”
Additionally, the assistant coach addressed one of the match’s most debated moments: the penalty involving Allende, which resulted in a Lions player being shown a red card.
