Ipswich Town have been busy in this summer's transfer window with rumours and speculation constantly surrounding the club since their brief spell in the Premier League last season.

With many young prospects on their roster, the club have had eye-catching outgoings such as Liam Delap making the move to Chelsea as well as Nathan Broadhead looking likely to leave for Wrexham this summer, as talkSPORT reports.

Despite heavy movement in Ipswich Town's attacking areas, the club seems hopeful to bring in exciting young striker Chuba Akpom, reportedly swooping in on the deal as the Ajax striker looked set to join Championship rivals Birmingham City, according to Daily Cannon.

As well as Akpom, Cajuste seems another prospect that Ipswich Town want to keep at Portman Road for the fourthcoming season after a successful campaign for the Tractor Boys in the Premier League last year.

The pair will offer stability and goals, which could be the difference in getting Ipswich Town back to the top flight.

Chuba Akpom is a well-renowned name that echoes throughout the EFL Championship after making a name for himself in the 2022/23 season when playing for Middlesbrough. The experienced forward scored 28 league goals for Boro making him the Championship's top goalscorer that season as per Transfermarkt.

Since then, Akpom has continued his goalscoring form overseas whilst playing for Ajax before being sent out on loan to French side Lille.

Akpom has his heart set on Ipswich, according to the East Anglian Daily Times and could be a fitting replacement for Delap as they make the drop to the second tier.

His wealth of experience and Championship know-how makes Akpom's signature an exciting prospect for Kieran McKenna's side.

To have Akpom's signing completed prior to their opening day fixture with Birmingham City at the weekend would send a statement of intent to Ipswich's promotion rivals and make their forward line a force to be reckoned with already established Championship players within their armoury, such as the likes of Sammie Szmodics and Jaden Philogene.

Jens Cajuste is another signing that would compliment Kieran McKenna's style of football, which we saw already last season as the Swedish international made 30 Premier League appearances for Ipswich last season.

Cajuste, who is currently contracted to Italian giants Napoli, is a signing that would stabalise Ipswich's midfield third, especially due to the outgoing Sam Morsy.

The loss of both midfielders could spell trouble for the Tractor Boys and Cajuste would therefore be a welcome and vital signing for McKenna prior to their meeting with Birmingham City due to already having a taste of life at Portman Road.

According to the East Anglian Daily Times, Ipswich Town are currently working on the loan deal with an obligation to buy if the club gain promotion back to the Premier League this coming season.
