Chivu Era Begins Today At Inter Milan – Not Many Players In Training, But Phone Calls With Big Names

The Cristian Chivu era will begin today, with the new Inter Milan coach to lead training for the first time, having already spoken with key players.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Today is the day. Inter Milan are set to make the appointment of Cristian Chivu as their new coach official.
The Nerazzurri had already decided upon the 44-year-old to replace Simone Inzaghi a few days ago.
On Thursday, Inter chose Chivu, concluding a search of a couple days. This search had seen them try for Cesc Fabregas, and also reportedly consider Patrick Vieira.
However, in the end, Inter went with Treble-winning former defender Chivu. They called the Romanian, and he agreed to step up.

It has been no secret that Cristian Chivu would take over at Inter Milan. He has been planning for next season with the club’s hierarchy for several days now.
However, there has been some red tape to get through before his arrival could become official. Principally, the resolution of his contract with Parma.
However, Chivu has officially terminated his engagement with the Gialloblu.
Therefore, the 44-year-old will officially sign his Inter contract today.
And then, Chivu will be able to lead his first Inter training session today.
As the Gazzetta note, it will not be a huge squad available to the new coach today. A number of Inter’s players are currently out on international duty.
However, the Romanian will get his first up-close look at plenty of players. Then, the rest of the squad will start filtering back.
Meanwhile, reports the Gazzetta, Chivu has already made phone calls to some of Inter’s top players to start discussing his project with them.
