Chelsea’s two best players both praise the same thing about “very intelligent” Enzo Maresca | OneFootball

With Cole Palmer’s form having dropped off, Moises Caicedo is a shoo-in for Chelsea’s player of the year award. He’s the one Blue who has been really good form August up until now. It looks impossible for anyone to dethrone him in these final months of the season.

One player is doing his best, however – Caicedo’s midfield partner Enzo Fernandez. The Argentine’s form has improved since Christmas, and in the last few games he’s been back to his best alongside Caicedo in the middle of the park.

Chelsea haven’t been playing that well, but the blame can’t be on these two, who are finally dovetailing nicely in the middle of the pitch. One thing they really have in common is an appreciation for Enzo Maresca, who is managing to get the best out of both of them:

“He’s very intelligent when it comes to working for each game. He knows that if we do the things they tell us, it will work for us in the end. We are all happy to have him here and working with him every day,” Caicedo said last week in quotes on the club’s official website.

Enzo was glowing in similar terms:

“The truth is that I have grown a lot with him. He has given me a lot of tools so that I can grow and understand the position. As we said, Moi and me, he is also very clear when it comes to giving instructions for preparing for the games, the training sessions runs are very well, very demanding. We like that.

At a club like Chelsea, where a lot of responsibilities are taken out of the manager’s hands and given to sporting directors, one of the most important thing he needs to do is coach players individually and improve them. By all accounts, he’s doing just that.
