According to L’Équipe, Chelsea defender Caleb Wiley (20) is set to join Watford on loan until the end of the season. The American international has been on loan at Strasbourg for the first half of the season, but his loan is set to be terminated early after limited playing time at the Racing club.

Wiley has only made six appearances since he joined the Ligue 1 club on loan from his parent club in the summer – totalling a mere 246 minutes of action. The former Atlanta United defender suffered a shoulder injury in November, which has seen him ruled out of action. He has been undergoing his recovery in London rather than Alsace.

A loan space freed

With Wiley set to join Watford, this frees up a loan spot for Strasbourg. They currently have two players on loan from their sister club – Andrey Santos and Djordje Petrovic. The Alsatian outfit could therefore see another player arrive on a temporary basis from the Premier League before the window closes.
