Chelsea’s Aggie Beever-Jones has highlighted Arsenal trio as ‘the standard’ within the England Women’s squad.
The forward has been named in Sarina Weigman’s squad for the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025. England will enter the tournament in Switzerland with hopes of retaining the title which they won on home turf in 2022.
This will be Beever-Jones’ first international tournament. Asked about her experience in the camp so far, she admitted: “Obviously we have all the Chelsea players who I’m super comfortable around.
“To come into this environment where I get to learn of players like Beth Mead, Alessia Russo and Chloe Kelly.
“For me there’s never a day where I haven’t learnt something new or taken things in like a sponge really.
“It’s obviously the standard that I want to be pushing at and playing at every single day.”
The 21-year-old was not part of the squad for the Lionesses’ triumph at the 2022 Women’s Euros. However, she did attend Wembley that day as a fan.
The forward reflected: “I was in the crowd when they won it and felt the stadium erupt when they were crowned champions.
“To think now that I’m going into it, it’s a very surreal moment for me.
“If I’m honest I can’t wait, I’m super excited and hopefully we can make history again this year.”
After making her international debut less than a year ago, the Chelsea forward’s call-up comes off the back of her cementing herself as a regular in Sonia Bompastor’s domestic treble winning side.
She was the only outfield player to feature in every one of Chelsea’s Women’s Super League matches, as the Blues went unbeaten on their way to a sixth successive title.
The attacker maintained: “For me I just always try to keep my feet on the ground, work hard and believe you will get these opportunities.
“We had a great season as a team collectively at Chelsea, winning the treble.”
A personal highlight for Beever-Jones undoubtedly came with the Lionesses at the end of last month. She netted three times in the first-half against Portugal, becoming just the second England Women’s player to ever score a hat-trick at Wembley.
She said: “Obviously the last time at Wembley was a special day for me and my family.
“Something that I haven’t stopped smiling about and I still don’t really feel like it happened if I’m honest. I feel like it was just a bit of a dream.”
As part of the media day, the Lionesses’ stars trained in the kits of their first ever youth teams.
“Days like these remind me why I do what I do. Seeing the young girls and the club that I used to play for, just makes it a full circle moment. Especially before a major tournament.
“A very surreal moment for me.”
