Chelsea are working on a deal to sign Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United with the club keen to sign both Garnacho and RB Leipzig midfielder Xavi Simons.
Discussions over a deal to sign Simons from the German side are advanced, though Chelsea remain interested in also adding Garnacho to their forward line.
The West Londoners expressed initial interest in the 21-year-old in January and are preparing to return with a new proposal. Garnacho has been informed he does not feature in Manchester United’s plans for the upcoming campaign.
Fabrizio Romano and Ben Jacobs are reporting that Chelsea are continuing to work on a deal for Garnacho, who is open to the transfer. The Argentina international wants to remain in the Premier League and views Chelsea as an ideal option.
Garnacho scored 11 goals in all competitions last season but was criticised for comments in the wake of the Europa League final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur. He expressed his unhappiness with a role from the bench and was later informed by Ruben Amorim that he is free to leave Old Trafford.
United are understood to value Garnacho in excess of £40m, though Chelsea are hopeful of negotiating a lower fee. The former have already signed Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo to boost their attacking options. United are also nearing the signing of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.
