Chelsea undergoing costly training ground rebuild and upgrade | OneFootball

Chelsea are revamping their Cobham training ground as Todd Boehly eyes an upgrade, reports the Sun.

The Blues chairman and manager Graham Potter are overseeing the rebuild which is set to cost millions of pounds.

Chelsea’s training complex at Surrey is already a five-star facility.

However, an overhaul of the whole centre is underway as the club look to make the environment more comfortable for their players.

A luxury chill-out room is being built, and it will consist of a lounge area, a swimming pool, a rehabilitation centre and a gym.

Chelsea have also recruited interior designers to decorate the walls with motivational phrases.

There is nowhere for the players to hang out around the medical centre before training.

Their new lounge will include soft furnishings and possibly video games.

The Stamford Bridge club started work on their indoor facilities and ground during the World Cup in Qatar.

Improvements have also been made to the women’s team facilities. It is part of the new owners’ plans to maintain Chelsea’s status as a world-class club.

They will continue to find ways to make the Blues a force to reckon with off and on the pitch.

Around £600 million has been spent on recruitment since Boehly’s Clearlake Capital completed their takeover in May 2022.

Graham Potter was brought in from Brighton & Hove Albion to replace Thomas Tuchel after a poor start to the season.

However, the new manager has struggled to bring about the much-needed changes and results.

Chelsea are 10th in the Premier League after 23 games, with 11 points between them and the top four.

They search for their third win in 15 games when they play Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
