Chelsea rounded off their pre-season in style, sweeping aside AC Milan 4–1 in a lively friendly at Stamford Bridge.

The tone was set within five minutes when Reece James swung in a free-kick from the left and Milan’s Andrei Coubis, attempting to clear, inadvertently put the ball into his own net.

The hosts doubled their lead soon after. Pedro Neto surged down the right with acres of space before delivering a pinpoint cross for João Pedro, who rose superbly to power home a header.

Coubis’ afternoon went from bad to worse when he saw red for a foul on João Pedro, leaving Milan a man down before half-time.

With the advantage in both numbers and scoreline, Enzo Maresca made some changes after the break.

Liam Delap extended the lead from the penalty spot, only for Youssouf Fofana to pull one back for the visitors. But Delap struck again late on, finishing neatly after being teed up by Andrey Santos to complete the 4–1 rout.

The result capped an impressive summer for Chelsea, who now turn their attention to next weekend’s Premier League opener against Crystal Palace.
