Chelsea take on Fulham in today’s spotlight game on Sky Sports, so they did a little interview with one of the players we’re relying on to try and make a difference against our West London rivals – Nicolas Jackson.
As ever, he’s a really likable, humble guy with a big smile and a desire to improve. When asked by Becky Ives how he thought his time at the club had gone so far, he emphasised how far there was still to go:
“For now [my time as Chelsea has been] good, not excellent. Hopefully excellent soon, but good. I’m very happy now, just trying to improve every week. So it’s good,” Jackson said.
We’re sure there is still a lot to come. We’ve already seen major improvements in his game in his less than 2 years at the club, and there are still major areas he can improve. The recent injury he suffered set him back a little, but this final run of the season gives him a huge chance to get back to it.
You can see the striker speaking in the clip embedded here:
Cristiano Ronaldo during his time playing for Juventus in Serie A.
“When I was younger, Cristiano Ronaldo, and after Neymar. Ronaldo [Nazario], I like him a lot. I just wanted to be like them playing on the TV… I was born to play football.
Those are some pretty impressive idols. Without wanting to be cruel, we’re not sure when the last time, Neymar or either of the Ronaldos went on a 12 game stretch without a solitary goal, which is unfortunately what the Senegal star has reached now.
This weekend is the perfect time to break that streak – as Enzo Maresca himself said in the press conference earlier this week, Chelsea simply will not be able to achieve their goals this season unless Jackson and his attacking partner Cole Palmer start scoring again.
