Chelsea have made it clear that they will not overpay in their bid to sign Manchester United outcast Alejandro Garnacho, according to The Telegraph.
The Blues have been very busy this summer, significantly strengthening Enzo Maresca’s squad as they prepare to challenge on multiple fronts this season.
New signings Liam Delap and Joao Pedro have already hit the ground running, while Jamie Gittens and Estevao Willian have given the club faithful plenty to look forward to.
However, Chelsea are not done with their business on the transfer market yet.
The Blues want to bolster their attacking options even further and are targeting a left winger and an attacking midfielder.
Garnacho has been identified as the ideal target to bolster the left wing, but negotiations with United have stalled with both sides ‘some distance apart’ on the player’s valuation.
Chelsea haven’t submitted any official bids yet, but they’re expected to do so in the coming weeks.
However, they know that United are desperate to sell Garnacho and are looking to take advantage of the situation by agreeing a cut-price deal.
Chelsea value Garnacho, who is on a £50,000 per week salary at United, at no more than £30 million. But United want significantly more if they’re to cash in on their academy graduate this summer.
The Argentine international has had interest from clubs abroad, but he has made it clear that he only wants to join Chelsea, which strengthens the Blues’ negotiating position even further.
Chelsea have no problems playing the waiting game and will only table an offer if United are willing to be more amenable to their terms.
United want to sign a midfielder and are eyeing a big-money move for Brighton & Hove Albion star Carlos Baleba, but they can’t move forward in that pursuit without first making sales.
Chelsea know United are in a pickle and are determined to get the best possible deal for Garnacho.
Meanwhile, the Blues are also in talks to sign RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Xavi Simons.
Like Garnacho, Chelsea are also reluctant to meet Leipzig’s demands and are waiting until closer to the end of the transfer window before turning up the heat.
