Tuesday means time for the Athletic’s DealSheet, and it’s another fascinating one for Chelsea fans.

With so many of our incoming deals already sorted – Jamie Gittens and Joao Pedro are considered “done deals” and will be announced once the final details are signed off on – focus for the rest of the summer is going to be on outgoing players.

The list of players the club want to sell is long. The list of players they would consider selling is even longer. A good starting point is the group who were left out of the travelling squad for the Club World Cup. Simon Johnson, who wrote the Chelsea piece for the Athletic, claimed that Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell, Armando Broja, Axel Disasi, Renato Veiga and Carney Chukwuemeka are all up for sale.

Veiga’s future a major question despite impressive year

None of those should surprise you. We’re interested to see what happens with Renato Veiga in particular. He was picked up for a bargain €14m fee last summer, got a good number of appearances in our B team and then went to Juventus on loan in January where he also played a lot.

That should mean he’s in demand, but we’ve yet to really hear much convincing chatter about where he might go. The last we heard was a week ago, when Graeme Bailey claimed there’s “some Premier League interest and some on the continent,” but we’ve yet to hear anything more specific than that.

The reports are that we want €20m for him, although we’d expect us to hold out for more. A €6m profit would barely cover his wages and the cost of doing business. Even €25m barely seems worth it. He looks at least as good a player as Axel Disasi, and we paid more than €40m for him.

Perhaps that explains the lack of concrete interest so far, with the Blues staying patient to see how much they can get.
