Chelsea sent scouts to watch Porto striker Samu Aghehowa in their 1-1 draw with Sporting Lisbon on Friday night according to reports.

The January window may have closed last week, but that hasn’t stopped rumours starting ahead of the summer window.

The Blues weren’t particularly active in January, with Mathis Amougou the only arrival for £12.5m from St Etienne, whilst six players left Stamford Bridge.

The Blues tried to sign an attacker in January, but despite being linked with a host of names nothing materialised, and according to reports it’s because the club felt there were a lack of good value options available.

Winger and striker are believed to be the priorities for the summer window, and it will be interesting if Chelsea go back in for the likes of Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens.

However, TBR football have reported the Blues sent scouts to watch Aghehowa in action for Porto on Friday night, and although he didn’t score, he did provide the assist as Porto scored a late equaliser.

The striker has scored 18 goals in all competitions, with 13 of those coming in the league, whilst the Blues could have signed him last summer for £34.5m, but the deal fell through and the club opted to sign Joao Felix instead.

Aghehowa is under contract with the Portuguese giants until 2029, and it remains to be seen what sort of transfer fee Porto would ask for.
