Chelsea seem to be leading the race for RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons, while other clubs such as Arsenal and Bayern Munich are reportedly keen on the former PSG player too.

As previously reported by Fabrizio Romano, Leipzig paid €80 million for Simons, with €55 million paid up front. The 22-year-old signed a contract running through June 2027, and PSG included a sell-on clause in the deal. As a result, PSG stand to gain whenever the German side decide to sell Simons.

This summer, PSG have already benefitted from a transfer sale as The Athletic’s Adam Crafton reported that the Parisians recently received €17 million (£15 million) from a sell-on clause tied to Hugo Ekitiké’s transfer to Liverpool.

Romano also reported that Chelsea are making strong progress in talks over personal terms with Simons. The midfielder is open to the move and interested in joining Chelsea, with direct negotiations ongoing to finalize a contract.

On Sunday, journalist Ben Jacobs revealed more information regarding Chelsea’s interest in Simons as the Premier League club looks to have the edge. According to Jacobs, Chelsea are making progress in their pursuit of Simons, with personal terms now broadly in place.

The report adds that discussions between the clubs are ongoing, and Chelsea are expected to submit an official bid soon after holding initial talks about the financial terms. Negotiations have been described as positive so far.

Arsenal and Bayern Munich remain interested and are keeping an eye on the situation, but neither club has made a formal offer at this stage.

On Saturday, Romano reported that Chelsea and RB Leipzig are in advanced talks over Simons. The report adds that negotiations between the clubs are progressing well, with things moving in a positive direction despite some details still to be finalized.

Moreover, Simons is keen on the Chelsea project, and discussions over personal terms are well advanced.
