Tottenham continues to navigate one of the most challenging seasons they have faced in recent years, particularly in terms of injuries.

Spurs have rarely had their full squad available this season, and transfer rumours constantly surround the North London club.

Recently, we reported that Tottenham made an offer for Angel Gomes, LOSC Lille’s attacking midfielder, making it clear that they are looking to strengthen their attack.

Additionally, Spurs are still searching for a central striker to inherit the throne left vacant by Harry Kane.

In this regard, recent reports suggest that Dusan Vlahovic could join Tottenham after Randal Kolo Muani secured the starting spot at Juventus.

Now, a new report suggests we could witness another London battle between Tottenham and Chelsea over the potential signing of a Premier League defender.

According to The Mirror, Chelsea have joined the race to sign Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi, amid interest from Tottenham and other clubs.

The outlet reports that Palace recently rejected significant offers for Guehi from Spurs and Newcastle United.

Chelsea are eyeing a homecoming for academy graduate Marc Guehi, with manager Enzo Maresca reportedly a keen admirer of the defender.

With Guehi’s contract expiring this June, the West London club sees an opportunity to bring him back to Stamford Bridge, where he could become a key piece of their defence.

Tottenham desperate for solutions

With multiple absences, particularly the ongoing injuries of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, Tottenham may have realised they always need top-level alternatives on the bench.

The interest in Guehi is just one example. Football is evolving, and it’s becoming increasingly clear that clubs cannot rely solely on eleven starters—they need between 18 and 20 high-quality players.

With multiple competitions and congested schedules, football organisations seem unwilling to compromise their interests.
