The possibility of West Ham United signing Manchester City’s Jack Grealish this summer has been shut down by a ‘club source’ in a new report this week.

Speculation surrounding Grealish’s future has ramped up, with multiple Premier League clubs said to be keeping tabs on the England international’s situation at Manchester City – with an expectance that the player will not be part of Pep Guardiola’s squad come the new season.

While the former Aston Villa captain remains under contract at the Etihad Stadium, Guardiola’s squad evolution — coupled with Grealish’s limited impact last season — has created uncertainty around his role heading into the 2025/26 campaign.

Manchester City are believed to be open to loan offers for the 29-year-old, whose high salary, transfer fee valuation, and diminished form have made his chances of a permanent exit unlikely this summer.

Everton have been credited with long-standing interest, but it was West Ham United who appeared to be stepping up their pursuit earlier this week when it was reported that they had enquired about a possible temporary move.

However, the idea of Jack Grealish relocating to East London has now taken a major blow, following a firm denial from within the Hammers’ camp that the club would pursue such a deal.

A West Ham United club source has responded to London Stadium-focussed outlet Claret and Hugh regarding an earlier report this week that suggested the Hammers could be interested in a loan agreement for Manchester City’s Jack Grealish.

The source is quoted as saying, “I doubt it. He (Jack Grealish) is not the player he was two to three years ago.”

This latest development effectively rules out one of the few realistic Premier League landing spots for Grealish, who is now left facing a summer of continued uncertainty.

While his market value remains significant on paper, it remains understood that City are not actively pushing him out, but would be willing to listen to offers that perhaps included an option to buy — or reduced loan contributions from the buying club.

The lack of suitors may even force Grealish to remain at the Etihad Stadium and fight for his place, especially with City unlikely to secure reinforcements on the left side at this stage of the window. Though the arrivals of Rayan Cherki and the continued growth of Oscar Bobb could limit his minutes, Grealish is still admired by some within the club for his tactical intelligence and ability to retain possession under pressure.

Elsewhere, Everton’s interest appears contingent on a favourable financial structure — likely a season-long loan with a shared wage agreement — and even that remains at the exploratory stage.

As things stand, unless another club makes a concrete approach, Jack Grealish could well remain a Manchester City player by default. The question now becomes whether Pep Guardiola will offer the England man a clear path back to prominence.
