In a shocking turn of events, Pape Doudou Diallo has not been included in Senegal's squad list for the 2024 African Nations Championship.

Souleymane Diallo has left out the top scorer of the domestic league, who netted 11 goals for Linguère de Saint-Louis in the 2024-2025 season, arguing that he is set to join a European club. However, this rumor was denied by the player himself, who remains under contract with Génération Foot.

"I was both surprised and disappointed. It really hurt, because I fought hard to make the squad. I wanted to play in the CHAN," the young striker lamented.

Pape Doudou Diallo tried to put things in perspective: "Nothing is lost yet. I'm still young. My future is ahead of me. I'll keep fighting on the pitch for upcoming opportunities. That's football. You have to respect the coach's decisions," he concluded.

While the Senegalese coach did not call up the top scorer of Ligue 1, he did select the leading scorer of Ligue 2, Mapathé Mbodj (AS Kaffrine).
