CHAN 2024: Eric Chelle calls up 23 players for the tournament | OneFootball

Eric Chelle unveiled, on the evening of Wednesday, July 24, the list of 23 players selected to represent Nigeria at the 2024 African Nations Championship. The tournament will take place from August 2 to 30 in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.

Nigeria will approach the 8th edition of the African Nations Championship with a squad made up exclusively of players from the domestic league. Head coach Eric Chelle has structured his team around three goalkeepers, seven defenders, six midfielders, and seven forwards. Captain Junior Harrison Nduka, prolific striker Godwin Obaje, and forward Sikiru Alimi are among the key figures in this selection.

Preparations took place at the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne-Remo before the team’s scheduled departure this Thursday for Zanzibar, where they will continue their training camp from July 25 to 31. Two friendly matches against Zanzibar’s national team are set for July 28 and 31 as a final tune-up. At CHAN 2024, Nigeria will compete in Group D alongside Senegal, Congo, and Sudan.
