Seny Dieng will have to wait a bit longer before returning to guard Middlesbrough’s goal. Sidelined since last January, the Senegalese goalkeeper is still not ready to make his comeback.
Middlesbrough’s new manager, Rob Edwards, has provided an update on his goalkeeper, Seny Dieng, who is continuing his recovery following Achilles tendon surgery.
The former Welsh international said: “Seny has been out on the pitch, but the training is still very light at the moment. He’s only at the very start of his rehab. He won’t be ready for the start of the season. He’s doing really well and working incredibly hard. He’s a very positive player, but I think there’s still a way to go for him right now.”
The 30-year-old shot-stopper’s progress has been hampered by this injury, limiting him to just 17 Championship appearances in the 2024-2025 campaign. In their opening English second division fixture, Middlesbrough will host Swansea on August 9, 2025 at the Riverside Stadium.
