There are now just four teams left in the 2024/25 edition of the Champions League following the conclusion of the quarter-finals on Wednesday night.
One of those four teams will be crowned champions of Europe at Munich's Allianz Arena at the end of next month - Saturday 31 May 2025.
Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain were the first sides to book their semi-final places.
The Catalans, seeking a first Champions League trophy in a decade, were actually beaten by Borussa Dortmund on Tuesday night. But a 4-0 aggregate lead from the first leg meant they had enough of a buffer to survive the defeat and progressed anyway.
PSG, having never won this trophy, also lost their second leg on Tuesday. Aston Villa emerged victorous, but the aggregate deficit from the first leg in Paris was too much to overcome.
Finalists in 2023, Inter edged a tense tie against Bayern Munich to progress. Their narrow 2-1 first leg victory in Germany proved to be huge, with the second leg finishing 2-2 after Harry Kane had drawn first blood. Thomas Muller has played his last Champions League game in a Bayern shirt, and quite likely ever, depending on what the German legend decides to do next.
Arsenal are into their their first Champions League semi-final in 16 years after seeing off holders and 15-time winners Real Madrid. The hard work was done last week, when the Gunners opened up a shock 3-0 lead to defend in Spain. But while most of the pre-game chat focused on anyone connected with Madrid expressing optimism of an unlikely comeback, Arsenal held firm in the Spanish capital and actually extended the lead before Madrid could cut even a little bit into it.
Like PSG, Arsenal have never won this trophy before. But one of them is guaranteed to reach the final and there is a 50/50 chance of a brand new winner lifting the cup.
Semi-final ties will be played on 29/30 April and 6/7 May.
