Mammoth encounter

The mammoth encounter between Brendan Rodgers and Jimmy Thelin’s side has got people talking with both teams going into the match domestically unbeaten so far this season.

It was only two weeks ago Rodgers faced off against Thelin for the first time in a thrilling contest. Leading 2-0 at half-time, Celtic could not see the match out with the Dons responding just after the interval through Ester Sokler and then skipper Graeme Shinnie.

Celtic threw the kitchen sink at Aberdeen in the closing twenty minutes but somehow Aberdeen survived and escaped Celtic Park with a point and their own unbeaten record in tact. Winners of today’s teatime kick-off  (5.30pm) will face either theRangers or Motherwell in December’s final.

Referee Kevin Clancy

Referee Kevin Clancy has only officiated the Hoops once this campaign and that was against Hibs in Celtic’s League Cup Last 16 tie at Paradise back in August.

Meanwhile, Clancy was involved in VAR controversy last Saturday at Dens Park when VAR lines could not be drawn to look at St Johnstone’s late winner.

Yesterday the Scottish FA admitted that after review Celtic should have been awarded a penalty kick last Sunday at Fir Park. It wasn’t even a hard decision to make at the time and unbelievably one of five reviewers actually believed that there was no foul. Anyone but Celtic territory there.
