Celtic’s Daizen Maeda is reportedly a target for Brentford. The Scottish Champions are expecting interest for the attacker but The Bees are the latest to be credited with an interest, especially with Bryan Mbeumo linked with a £60m+ move to Manchester City.

As reported by Record Sport, Maeda is being tracked by Brentford as his excellent form appears to have caught the attention of a number of clubs south of the border.

The report states that the versatile forward is attracting interest from around Europe with his scintillating goalscoring form catching the eye. Maeda moved through the middle after Kyogo left for Rennes and the player didn’t look back. Maeda scored 33 goals and assisted 12 times in 51 appearances as Celtic retained the Scottish Premiership while regaining the Premier Sports Cup, being rewarded with the Player of the Year Award, Players’ Player of the Year, PFA Scotland Player of the Year as well as the SFWA Player of the Year.

Celtic have been expected to offer Maeda, as well as Reo Hatate and Nicolas Kühn, improved terms. Brendan wants his side to be in the best possible shape to compete in Europe next season along with domestic dominance. Celtic have been linked to sign Mathias Kvistgaarden but the links have cooled in recent weeks. The Japanese Internationalist may look at the forthcoming World Cup as a reason to remain at Celtic, although he may wish to remain through the middle, where he played his best football.

Celtic have signed Ross Doohan, Benji Nygren and Kieran Tierney. Callum Osmond is expected to join from Fulham as is Hayato Inamura. Celtic will be eager to step up their player trading in the coming weeks.
