Castello Lukeba to change agents ahead of possible summer switch | OneFootball

L’Équipe report that Lyon defender and 20-year-old French youth international Castello Lukeba is on the verge of changing agents ahead of a possible summer transfer window move.

Lukeba was the subject of a €43m bid from Chelsea last year – whilst the Blues maintain a long-term interest in the defender, they are going to spend the first half of their summer transfer window focusing on selling players owing to the bloated squad that Todd Boehly has built.

Under contract until 2025 with Lyon, the Rhone club remain unlikely to qualify for European football next season. In the event that OL cannot even secure UEFA Conference League action, the likelihood of Lukeba departing will increase. OL expect to sell at least one, if not two, major 1st team assets, with Rayan Cherki and Lukeba the most likely candidates.

Lukeba has not intention of leaving Lyon for the sake of it – he wants to continue to improve by maximising his playing time and ensuring a spot in a starting XI, wherever that may be. As a result, he will not join a major European club without playing time guarantees and he will be relying on his future new agents, whose identity has yet to be revealed, to help him navigate that.
