Kerstin Casparij says seeing a packed-out Joie Stadium at the City are Back Open Training session has made her even more excited for the 2025/26 season to get under way.
The Dutch international returned to the City Football Academy last week after representing the Netherlands at this summer’s European Championships.
But with the new Barclays Women’s Super League campaign on the horizon, preparations are in full swing for our opening clash against Chelsea on Friday 5 September.
And Casparij emphasised the importance of the City fans ahead of that opener after a typically raucous reception at open training.
“We love having the fans back, and seeing a full Joie stadium makes me very excited for the season,” she said.
“Them being here is a 12th player for us, if there’s a lot of energy from the stands, it translates onto the pitch.
“We want to get as many good results as we can and lift some silverware. It’s going to be for them.”
The event also presented City fans with a first glimpse of new signings Jade Rose and Iman Beney in action.
Canada international Rose became the Club’s first summer signing, with the defender joined through the door by one of Switzerland’s Euro 2025 stars Beney a few days later.
And Casparij has been impressed by what she’s seen so far from our new recruits.
She added: “They’re getting to know the Manchester weather, that’s for sure!
“But we’re very happy to have Jade and Iman, they’re great players and we’re going to have a lot of fun with them next year.
“It’s been going really well with the squad, the girls have been training here for a few weeks now, others are coming back from the Euros and Kerolin has just won the Copa America.
“Everyone’s coming back to join, so it’s just good to see everyone again and I’m excited to start the season.”
