Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has hinted that he intends to assign a clear first-choice penalty taker in his squad moving forward.
This of course comes fresh off Los Blancos’ latest miss from 12 yards on Friday night.
En route to an eventual 2-1 victory over Valencia at Mestalla, Jude Bellingham fluffed his lines from the spot during the 2nd-half, directing his effort off the post and out.
This came despite both Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Jr. having been on the pitch at the time.
Carlo Ancelotti has for his part afforded his players the responsibility of choosing between them who will step up to take penalties this season.
This tactic, however, has now resulted in a trio of missed spot-kicks.
Speaking to the media in the aftermath of last night’s last-gasp victory for his side, it therefore came as little surprise when Ancelotti suggested that he may need to take control of the situation:
“I’m annoyed, we’ve missed three penalties. I think it’s now my responsibility to choose a designated penalty taker.”
