Liverpool and Newcastle lock horns at Wembley this Sunday in a Carabao Cup final that carries significant weight for both clubs. For Liverpool, this presents an opportunity to secure the first silverware of Arne Slot’s tenure, while Newcastle seek to end their long wait for a major domestic trophy.
The final is set for a 4:30 pm GMT kick-off on 16 March 2025, with the iconic Wembley Stadium hosting what promises to be an intense encounter between two ambitious sides.
Fans across the UK will be able to watch the final live on ITV and STV, with free-to-air coverage making it accessible to all. Sky Sports will also broadcast the game across multiple channels, including Sky Sports Main Event, Sky Sports Ultra HDR, Sky Sports Football, and Sky Sports Showcase.
For online viewers, ITVX and the STV Player will provide a free live stream for those with an email subscription. Sky Sports subscribers can also watch via Sky Go on their preferred device.
Standard Sport will offer live text coverage, providing updates, analysis, and reaction throughout the match.

Both teams have injury concerns, particularly in defence. Liverpool will be without Trent Alexander-Arnold, who sustained an injury in the recent Champions League defeat to PSG. Ibrahima Konaté was also withdrawn during that match, though Slot has confirmed the Frenchman’s absence was precautionary and he should be available for the final.
With Conor Bradley and Joe Gomez also expected to miss out, Jarell Quansah is likely to start at right-back. Tyler Morton remains sidelined through injury.
Newcastle, meanwhile, will be without Anthony Gordon following his suspension for a red card against Brighton in the FA Cup. Lewis Hall’s season-ending ankle injury adds to their defensive worries, while Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles are also unavailable.

Liverpool head into the final with the pedigree and experience of a team accustomed to the big stage. Despite key absences, they have maintained their form this season and will be favourites to lift the trophy.
Newcastle, on the other hand, will take confidence from their semi-final triumph over Arsenal but will have to adjust their approach due to injuries and suspensions. While they have made significant strides under Eddie Howe, their defensive frailties could prove costly against a Liverpool side well-versed in handling high-pressure matches.
Liverpool have the edge in terms of squad depth and match-winning experience. While Newcastle will look to impose themselves physically and exploit any defensive gaps, Slot’s side should have enough quality to see them through.
Prediction: Liverpool 2-1 Newcastle
