Tajon Buchanan is ready to make his first appearance of the season in Inter Milan’s Serie A match against Venezia tomorrow.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that the Canadian is itching to get back out on the pitch.
Buchanan has not yet played for Inter this season.
The 25-year-old has missed the entirety of the campaign due to a long-term injury.
Buchanan suffered a broken leg during the summer. He fractured his tibia in training with the Canadian national team during the Copa America.
This was an injury that required surgery and then a lengthy subsequent recovery period.
Therefore, it was little surprise that Buchanan missed out on preseason with Inter as well as the first few months of the campaign.
Buchanan recovered in September. He made his return to individual training in the second half of that month.
But the Canadian has still had a long period in which he has had to regain match-fitness since then.
Buchanan has been full training with the rest of the Inter squad for around a week now.
Therefore, it has only been a matter of time before the former Club Brugge wingback would be back on the pitch.
It will be up to Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi to decide when and how to gradually reintroduce Buchanan in matches.
But from the player’s perspective, there is naturally a sense of eagerness to finally get back to it.
Buchanan is ready from a physical point of view. And he wants to get on the pitch and make his contribution.
That certainly does not mean that Buchanan will start tomorrow.
But the 25-year-old should appear from the bench during the match.
Particularly with Carlos Augusto out with an injury, Inzaghi will welcome having Buchanan available and ready to feature on the flanks.
