MIAMI – The 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup continues with Canada and El Salvador meeting in Group B on Tuesday at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston, Texas, USA.

The match presents the third meeting between the nations in Gold Cup history. Canada holds the lead in the series with a win, while the other encounter resulted in a draw.

Canada enters the match currently as Group B leaders with four points after a win and a draw in its first two fixtures.

The Reds drew 1-1 with Curaçao on Saturday, with Nathan Saliba scoring the lone Canadian goal. It was Saliba’s second goal of the tournament and the fourth fastest ever scored by Canada in Gold Cup history.

El Salvador has collected one point, with a draw and a loss in its first two matches. La Selecta will seek to bounce back after falling 2-nil against Honduras.

Their first Gold Cup encounter came in 2009 during Group A action, where Ali Gerba scored in the 32nd minute to lift Canada to a 1-0 win in Columbus. Their second meeting ended in a goalless draw in 2015 at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.

Beyond the Gold Cup, Canada has won the last two meetings between the sides in dominant fashion during FIFA World Cup Qualifying for Qatar 2022. El Salvador’s last victory over Canada came over two decades ago, on September 14, 1997, in World Cup Qualifying for France 1998. That night at the Estadio Cuscatlán, La Selecta triumphed 4-1 with goals from Alexander Larín (15'), William Renderos (53'), Mauricio Cienfuegos (56'), and Raúl Díaz Arce (87'). Alex Bunbury scored the lone goal for Canada in the 30th minute.
