With just one day to go before the kick-off of the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, Asisat Oshoala sets the tone and puts Nigeria's rivals on notice. The six-time African Ballon d'Or winner has voiced her determination to lead the Super Falcons to another championship title.

The 2024 Women’s AFCON gets underway this Saturday, July 5, 2025, with the opening match between hosts Morocco and Zambia. Nigeria, drawn in Group B, will make their debut on Sunday, July 6, facing Tunisia at 16:00 GMT at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium. Asisat Oshoala played a pivotal role in the Super Falcons’ triumph at the 2016 AFCON—where she finished as Top Scorer with six goals—and in the 2018 edition, which her team also won.

On Moroccan soil, the 30-year-old striker is once again determined to put her goal-scoring prowess to work for her teammates in pursuit of a record 10th continental crown. "Personally, I want to score goals, that's what I love to do. It's been a while since I played with the national team because a lot has been happening in my personal life. But wherever I am, I'm here, on the pitch, and I help my teammates win all three points in every match we play. I always expect the team to give 100% on the field, to try to win every match, and to treat every game as equal and important," she declared.
