Teenage striker Francesco Camarda is in hospital having tests after he had to come off during Lecce’s Serie A loss to Milan. ‘He couldn’t remember what had just happened,’ revealed Eusebio Di Francesco.
The 17-year-old had started for Lecce against his parent club at the Stadio Via del Mare, having made the move to the Salentini on loan for this season.
He was substituted at half-time for new signing Nikola Stulic, but it was only discovered after the 2-0 defeat that this was a decision forced upon them.

“Camarda couldn’t remember what had just happened on the pitch,” revealed coach Di Francesco in his press conference.
“I asked him about his positioning on a corner and he couldn’t remember anything. That’s when we went on red alert. He couldn’t remember some other things. I immediately took him off.
“Now he is in hospital undergoing some tests.”
Camarda was down for a few moments after an accidental collision in midfield, but it had not seemed particularly serious.
This was the second Serie A match of the campaign for Lecce and they are yet to score a single goal, having been held to a 0-0 draw by Genoa last week.
“There were situations we could’ve dealt with better, we had several dangerous crosses that could’ve had more quality. We must improve, but above all cannot allow a team like Milan the advantage of uncertain passing,” continued Di Francesco.
“We were naïve in some incidents too, like the misplaced pass for the free kick that opened the scoring. We were also a little too deep on the free kick itself, that was not what we had planned.
“It was a battle, but if you don’t raise the quality level against Milan, it becomes difficult.”
