A pair of Premier League stars have this evening taken to social media, to reveal their bemusement with the news of Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr. missing out on the Ballon d’Or.

Wide-man Vinícius, the long-time favourite to secure the 2024 ‘Golden Ball’, is of course widely understood to have been snubbed for the prize at the last.

As confirmed by a whole host of sources across the continent, instead, the title of world football’s best player is set to go the way of Manchester City midfielder Rodri.

News of Vinícius’ blow has since sparked widespread chatter across the world of football, amid the general consensus that the Brazilian has been somewhat hard done by by France Football.

And adding their names to this camp over the course of the evening to date, as alluded to above, have been two Premier League stars.

First, in a direct message to the Ballon d’Or page on Instagram, Tottenham Hotspur frontman and Vinícius’ compatriot Richarlison wrote:

‘If Vini doesn’t win, s**t is gonna go down.’

And as much was soon followed by Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Mario Lemina unveiling an IG post of his own, detailing:

‘Rodri is the best midfielder in the world yes. But the best player in the world right now is Vinícius no doubt. Bye football.’
