Two goals from Bunny Shaw alongside contributions from Jill Roord and Gracie Prior handed Manchester City a comfortable win over Liverpool. Manchester City dominated the opening 15 minutes, forcing several good saves from Teagan Micah. Whilst Liverpool may have increasingly found their feet, it was Bunny Shaw who inevitably broke the deadlock. Following a well worked piece of team play, the Jamaican international slotted the ball home beyond Micah in the 31st minute in her first start since returning from injury.
Shaw bagged her second of the evening shortly before the break, slamming the ball home to give the hosts a comfortable lead going into half-time. The goal also saw Mary Fowler break a WSL record, becoming the first player to bag two goal contributions in four consecutive games.
Jill Roord scored a third for her side, further extending their lead. The Netherlands international fired the ball home from the edge of the area in the 60th minute. Gracie Prior then made it four for the Sky Blues, netting her first City goal in the 77th minute. The defender appeared to fire the ball across the area, with her effort finding the corner of the net.
Manchester City will travel to face Tottenham and West Ham in the WSL ahead of their home fixture against Aston Villa in the FA Cup. Liverpool will take on Crystal Palace before meeting Arsenal in the FA Cup Quarter finals.
