Manchester United fans will be delighted with new statistics released on Bruno Fernandes.
There were strong rumours at the start of the summer that United would sell their captain to Saudi Arabia.
Thankfully, Fernandes rejected huge offers from the Middle East to stay with the club.
The Portugal international once again had an incredible individual season despite the mediocrity around him.
Fernandes bagged 19 goals and 19 assists in a team that desperately struggled to put the ball in the net.
The 30-year-old also caught the eye with his all-round game, starting a lot of games as a deeper lying midfielder in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 system.
He also incredibly led the team in numerous more defensive statistics like duels competed in.
New statistics from The analyst website also highlight something the midfielder absolutely excels in.
The site reports that “Bruno Fernandes is a name we’d expect to find high up in these metrics, and he did indeed play more passes that broke through the opposition’s defensive line than any other player in the top flight (89).”
What’s more, “his total was 18 higher than any other player which, given he was playing for an underperforming Manchester United side, is particularly impressive.”
Fernandes’ ability to create chances was highlighted by the fact that he was first for line-breaking passes leading to shots (58) in the league.
When asked on which United player was he most excited to play with, it is probably of little surprise that new recruit Bryan Mbeumo chose Bruno Fernandes.
The same website highlighted how much Mbeumo runs behind and he will be licking his lips at receiving balls from Fernandes.
Moreover, summer arrival Matheus Cunha and a new striker signing such as Ollie Watkins or Benjamin Sesko should really maximise Fernandes’ creativity a lot more than the likes of Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho.
